Why The Longest Day

We're teeing off at first light & finishing when there is no sun left! We're trying to complete 90 holes. That's right, 90!!! For those of you who know us, we don't do things in halves, so we're going one step above 72. Please take some time to read what we have to say & why we want you to donate as this means a lot to us.

When & where — 10th of November with our partner Mowbray Golf Club. Follow us on Facebook or Instagram to see us conquer the day!

We're asking for you to donate for a great cause, to fight for a cancer free future & end this horrible thing. Our goal is to raise $2,500 but would love to beat that number!

UPDATE — Not even 48hrs after our initial release & thanks to everyone who has donated we have absolutely smashed our goal of 2.5k, cancer throws curveballs so are we too. Our new goal is $7,500 !!

Alex's why

Alex had one rock his family in 2017 with his mother being diagnosed with breast cancer & two weeks later she was in for surgery, but she is one tough nut! Winning the long battle alongside the research from the cancer council & efforts from the Holman clinic. After 7 long months of treatment & 3 years after her diagnosis she was cancer free, officially being discharged from the Holman clinic in 2023. Mum says to this day "It's not a nice subject to talk about, but it's real and a part of who we are. In some ways there's lots to be grateful for and learn from". Alex has also lost three out of four grandparents to cancer.

Joby's why

Life's thrown its share of curveballs at Joby, especially when it comes to cancer affecting his immediate circle. Some battles won, some battles lost. It's been a rollercoaster of emotions, even though he's not been directly in the ring. Watching close family and friends face such life altering challenges is tough. But on the bright side, they've won enough battles to make cancer think twice about messing with his family again.

As many of you may know, having to go through this traumatic experience is something you wouldn't wish upon anyone. So we want to raise as much as possible, where even $50 all helps towards the big number & getting a cancer free future.

If you'd like to join us for a few holes on the day, feel free to come along! We hope to see you there helping us get through the day. We appreciate your support & look forward to smashing this challenge.

F**k cancer. Let's beat it!

1 in 2 Australians will be affected by cancer by the age of 85 — we want to help change this by making every hole count! So once again, please sponsor us today, because tackling cancer takes all of us.

2026 — Something's brewing.

We're back for another year on The Longest Day — but this time with a twist. We're teaming up with @nla_painting on something we haven't done before. Details drop soon; the golf clubs are already out.

This year's fundraiser is being finalised. Once locked in, this panel will carry the date, the cause and the way to get involved — same as every year before it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you participated in The Longest Day challenge?

This was our first year taking part in The Longest Day as AXJ Construction, and it’s something we’re incredibly proud to now be part of.

What is your connection to the cause?

Cancer is something that has had a direct impact on both of us. In 2017, Alex’s mum was diagnosed with breast cancer and underwent surgery just two weeks later. After 7 months of treatment and ongoing care through the Holman Clinic, she made a full recovery and was officially discharged in 2023. Alex has also lost three of his four grandparents to cancer. For Joby, cancer has affected close family and friends — some battles won, others lost. Being alongside loved ones through those moments has had a lasting impact. It’s a cause that’s very real for both of us, and one we’re proud to support.

Why do you like to participate in The Longest Day?

It aligns with who we are as people and as a business. We don’t do things in halves — so taking on 90 holes instead of 72 felt right. It’s a physical and mental challenge, but more importantly, it’s an opportunity to give back and support a cause that affects so many people. Doing it together as a team, with the support of our subbies, suppliers, family and friends, made it even more meaningful.

What is your highlight from The Longest Day?

The biggest highlight was the support from our subbies, suppliers, family and friends and raising over $10,000. The day itself was one we won’t forget — starting before sunrise with glow-in-the-dark balls and finishing in the dark after more than 16 hours on course. We walked close to 50km, had nearly 900 swings, and pushed through some very sore bodies to get it done. It was tough, but incredibly rewarding knowing what it was all for.

Have you fundraised in the past?

This was our first major fundraising effort as a business, and to raise over $10,000 is something we’re extremely proud of. It’s given us a real drive to continue supporting initiatives like this into the future.
